DON’Ts
- Over post-process your photos
- Avoid borders, vignettes, unnatural overlays/filters and soft focusing (especially faces)
- Over complicate the image with a busy background or too many props
- Use flash or overly harsh exposure
- Isolate the product from the human experience – it should reflect it
- Shoot photos that are staged, ridged and don’t reflect life
PHOTOGRAPHY RULE OF THIRDS
The rule of thirds involves mentally dividing up your image using 2 horizontal lines and 2 vertical lines, as shown below. You then position the important elements in your scene along those lines, or at the points where they meet.
