DIY Probiotic Mask for Glowing Skin - Easy and Cheap!

Probiotics are not just oral consumption, they can be applied directly on your skin as well! These beneficial bacteria can be added to other natural ingredients to create a DIY mask. If you want to have beautiful, glowing skin for a fraction of the price of expensive skincare products, then you should try any of these DIY probiotic masks: 

Probiotic and Jojoba Oil Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 capsules of probiotics (look for a probiotic with 5+ species)
  • 1 tsp. Jojoba oil
  • 1 tsp. Raw honey 

Instructions:

  1. Mix the jojoba oil and honey. 
  2. Add the contents of the probiotic capsules into the mix. 
  3. Apply the mask on your face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse after.

Why use this mask?

For one, most of the probiotic capsules contain millions of colony-forming units (CFU) that can help beautify your skin. This mask also uses jojoba oil, which has potent anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. According to a study, it can help fight skin infections – as well as skin aging. Research also shows that it may help accelerate wound repair, making this mask ideal for those who wish to get rid of acne marks quickly. 

Yogurt and Turmeric Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. Plain, organic, full-fat yogurt
  • 1 capsule of any probiotic supplement
  • ½ tsp. Turmeric powder 
  • Instructions:

    1. Mix the turmeric powder with the yogurt and the contents of the probiotic capsule. 
    2. Apply the mixture on your face by way of small circles.
    3. Leave the mask on your face for 10-30 minutes before washing.

    Yogurt is not only good for the tummy, but it is also good for the skin.

    This mask is also made with Turmeric, a yellow-orange spice commonly used in curries and sauces. Not only is it perfect for recipes, but Turmeric is beneficial for the skin as well. To wit, it can help decrease oil production, skin irritation, redness, and puffiness. Indeed, these mask ingredients can help you achieve beautiful, oil-free skin. 

    Yogurt and Strawberry Face Mask 

    Ingredients:

    • 1 tsp. Yogurt
    • 2 ripe strawberries
    • 1 tsp. Honey 

    Instructions:

    1. Mash the strawberries with a fork.
    2. Add the honey. Continue to mix well. 
    3. Add a teaspoon of Yogurt and combine the mixture. 
    4. Apply the mask on your face. Leave for 15 minutes before rinsing.

    Why use this mask?

    With its rich probiotic content, this mask can help brighten and lighten your skin.  It is also made with strawberries, which are rich in antioxidants that help fight free radical damage. Add to that, research also shows that these fruits may help protect the skin from UV ray-induced damage. 

    Yogurt and Avocado Face Mask

    Ingredients:

    • 1 tsp. Yogurt
    • 1 tsp. Olive oil
    • ¼ serving of avocado

    Instructions:

    1. Mix the olive oil and yogurt in a bowl.
    2. Add the mashed avocado into the mix.
    3. Combine all the ingredients until you create a pasty consistency.
    4. Apply the mask on your face for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water afterward.

    Avocados are not only for guacamole and toast, for they work wonders on the skin as well. 

    For one, it contains natural oils that help nourish the skin. In her interview with Elle, Dr. Maureen Eyerman explained that “the hydrating properties (of avocados) may reduce fine lines and wrinkles, help keep skin smooth and boost skin’s immunity against stress and other environmental factors.”

    Kefir and Cucumber Face Mask 

    Ingredients:

    • 2 tbsps. Kefir 
    • 1 small cucumber 

    Instructions:

    1. Grate the cucumber directly onto a strainer placed on top of a bowl. 
    2. Press the grated cucumber to extract more juice. Discard the pulp.
    3. Add the kefir to the cucumber juice and mix thoroughly. 
    4. Apply the mask on the skin. Leave for 20 minutes before washing. 

    Why use this mask? 

    This mask, which is best for people with normal skin, is made from probiotic-rich Kefir. As such, this mask is rich in lactic acid, a substance that can help exfoliate the surface for glowing skin.

    Add to that, Kefir also has good anti-inflammatory properties, which make it useful against acne and other inflammatory skin conditions. 

    Kefir and Honey Face Mask 

    Ingredients: 

    • 2 tbsps. Kefir
    • 1 tbsp. Raw honey 
    • 1 egg white

    Instructions: 

    1. Combine Kefir, raw honey, and egg white in a small bowl. 
    2. Apply the mask to your face. Leave for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off. 

    Why use this mask? 

    This mask is best for people with oily skin. Apart from Kefir, it is also made with egg whites, which may help prevent skin greasiness. 

    This mask is also created with raw honey, which is also beneficial for the skin. According to scientific literature, it helps fight bacteria, which makes it a good ingredient against acne. It can also help enhance immunity, and as such may help hasten the repair of unsightly acne marks.

    Kefir and Olive Oil Mask

    Ingredients: 

    • 2 tbsps. Kefir
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 1 tsp. Olive oil

    Instructions: 

    1. Stir the kefir, egg yolk, and olive oil in a bowl.
    2. Apply the mask on your face. Leave for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off.

    Why use this mask?

    This mask is perfect for people with dry skin, largely because it is made with egg yolk.  This ingredient can help lock moisture into the skin, and as such, it can help make your face baby-smooth. 

    Together with Kefir, olive oil may help boost skin health as well. According to a study, it can do the following feats:
